Draycote

Draycote

At 658 acres Draycote is the largest of the fisheries managed Fishery Management (UK) Ltd. Draycote is recognised as one of the UK’s premier stillwaters having over 12,000 angler visits per year.

An excellent perimeter access road provides easy access to all the natural bank fishing whilst a well maintained 32 boat fleet caters for the needs of the boat angler. All boats are fitted with petrol outboards and the fleet also includes a Wheelie boat specifically designed to suit the needs of the disabled angler.

Draycote has a varied depth profile that allows fish to be caught throughout the year. An early season hotspot is the Toft Shallows with an average overall depth of 25ft. This makes it perfect buzzer habitat and, as a result, holds fish all year round. Toft is perfect for learning the art of fishing buzzers, either at anchor or drifting

Once the water starts to warm towards May, Draycote’s unique shoals come into play. These are 4 underwater islands that offer areas of shallow water in the middle of the lake.  These areas allow fish to start to feed on adult insects across the open water before any other midland reservoir. This makes Draycote ideal for learning the deadly and rewarding method of fishing dries from a drifting boat.

In the Summer months, when the water temperatures begin to increase, it’ the deeper, cooler water that holds the fish. With the added benefit of the aerators, you can still be catching trout when other reservoirs have become less productive. It is also at this time of year when the fast sinking fly lines really come to the fore as it’s important to reach those cooler depths where the trout are at their most comfortable.

The diversity of habitat at Draycote make it a perfect location to catch prime trout whilst learning a multitude of differing tactics. The numerous hotspots around the lake combined with the knowledge, experience & expertise of our In-House guides makes it the perfect guiding venue.
